Student Leadership Announced for 2025

On Thursday 12 September 2024, Mentone Grammar Principal Andy Müller proudly announced the appointment of our student leaders for 2025 at a special assembly.

We congratulate Ruby Appel, Helena Scott, Darcy Hodgson-Melrose, and Julian Lau who will be the school’s Head Prefects for 2025.

In his remarks to the school community, Principal Müller congratulated the four students on this prestigious honour and wished them well in the year ahead.

Each of the new Head Prefects joined Mentone Grammar in 2019 as Year 7 students, and throughout their time at the school, they have made significant contributions across academics and co-curricular activities, consistently embodying the institution’s seven core values.

Principal Müller shared that the students’ teachers have provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, describing them as respectful, determined, humble, and committed. While academic excellence is important, the Head Prefect role also requires outstanding learning behaviors, which these four individuals have demonstrated through their multiple award achievements.

In the Principal’s words, “Leadership is about influence, and the actions of these four individuals positively influence the actions of others. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or on stage, their respectful and selfless conduct, which prioritises the needs of others, is truly admirable.”
