Jackson Kemelfield (Class of 2023) impressed the panel at the 2024 Top Class Drama auditions in January and has earned an invitation to showcase his talent in the Top Class Drama Concert taking place at the Melbourne Recital Centre on Friday 19 April 2024.
The 2024 Top Class Drama Concert presents performances by students who received outstanding grades for their 2023 VCE performance examinations. Selected students are invited to showcase their original and/or scripted dramatic monologues, demonstrating their imagination and originality as emerging actors. Those watching the concert will see Jackson’s original work based on the stimulus ‘Ebenezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol’.
Head of Drama and Dance, Jamie McCarney, commented, “This continues the proud tradition of Mentone Grammar Drama students being prominently featured among the top-ranking students in Victoria, marking the fourth consecutive year that our students have been showcased in this event.
“Jackson’s searing satire, which depicts the spirit of Ebenezer Scrooge visiting a contemporary celebrity (in this case Gwyneth Paltrow) was a fantastic interpretation recognised by the judges as one of the finest in the state. We are incredibly proud of his achievement and our continued presence in the Top Class Drama performances.”
For those wishing to attend the Top Class Concert, tickets can be purchased via the MRC Box Office:
