Last week, our Social Service Team joined forces with the Sports Captains to organise three exhilarating staff vs students events. This initiative was aimed at supporting the not-for-profit charity ‘Pushing Barriers’, an organisation that provides youth refugees with opportunities and funding in sport!
“The Social Service Team was motivated to support Pushing Barriers because of the organisation’s unwavering commitment to empowering and enriching the lives of young refugees. Through their efforts, Pushing Barriers offer individuals unparalleled opportunities to engage in a wide range of club and community sports. The charity covers the costs associated with club fees, uniforms, equipment and transportation to matches, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder the participation of these young refugees,” said Social Service Captains McKenzie H and Reva T.
The dodgeball, basketball and soccer matches held during the week provided an enjoyable and competitive experience for both staff and students. To culminate the week’s activities, the team organised a sausage sizzle and casual dress day with the aim of raising funds for Pushing Barriers.
