Return To Top News StoriesOutstanding effort again for Zaidee's 24 hour run
Published: Wednesday, 26 September 2012
While most students and staff were heading off on holidays, a dedicated group of students, staff and supporters joined together in a marathon 24 hour treadmill run at the Mentone Grammar Function Centre overnight at the end of Term 3.
Over $10,000* was raised for Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation which aims to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation. This is an outstanding outcome given the relatively small group of people participating.
Allan Turner, father of Zaidee, attended the start and finish and it was again heartfelt thanks from him when the students finally finished their marathon. A visit by Australian Olympian athlete Tamsyn Lewis (pictured with the starters) was also a highlight.
*Funds raised are still being counted - final tally to come.
The event was again generously sponsored by 7 Eleven as the Principal Partner ($7,500).
Other sponsors included: Elsternwick Club $1000, Marco Fabrics $500, Lime Catering - food (sausages/burgers/bacon/eggs), MyLollies - Snacks (snack sponsor), Thomson Real Estate - Signage boards, Workout World - Treadmills. Silent auction/other donations - Beaumaris Books, AMF Bowling Moorabbin, Bubba's Pizza, Harvey Norman and many personal sponsorships of the participants.

A further update from the students involved will be available soon.
