Published: Wednesday, 6 June 2012
Mal Cater and Glenn Bowes were privileged to enjoy a private meeting with the Honourable Alex Chernov AC QC, Governor of Victoria, representing Lord Somers Camp and Power House (LSCPH), in their respective capacities as President and Camp Chief, and Immediate Past President and Camp Chief of LSCPH, a leading Victorian youth organisation. The Governor is the Patron of LSCPH and is a keen supporter of the work of the organisation - particularly the annual youth development and leadership camps Lord Somers Camp for boys and Lady Somers Camp for girls. The Camps are held every January at Somers – with Mentone Grammar well represented each year by several Year 11 students attending each Camp.
LSCPH was founded in 1928 by then Governor of Victoria, Arthur Herbert Tennyson Baron Somers, Governor of Victoria from 1926-1931; and has enjoyed the Patronage of the Governor since. It is a Victorian based not-for-profit organisation which has developed a range of experiential programs, designed and led by volunteers, creating a vibrant community which prepares and empowers young people to be change agents for good in the broader community.
Mr Mal Cater (OM 1981) is currently Principal of Mentone Grammar, and Professor Glenn Bowes (OM 1966) is an immediate former Member of the Mentone Grammar Board of Directors.
