Enrolment Information for Australian Residents
Enrolment enquiries may be directed to the Registrar, Ms Jan Gazzard on (03) 9584 4211 or emailed to enrol@mentonegrammar.net
Under normal circumstances, entry to Mentone Grammar is by interview with the Registrar or Head of the relevant Campus (or level) of Mentone Grammar. Parents are requested to bring along to the interview copies of your children's last two school reports, Naplan test results, and any other relevant information or assessments you might have.
Offer of Place and Enrolment Acceptance
Offers will be determined by the availability of places and length of time since registration. Old Mentonians' sons and daughters and those who have a sibling already at Mentone Grammar may be given priority.
Registered families will be contacted about next steps to enrolment (if offered a place), one or two years prior to commencement, or as soon as possible thereafter. After enrolment interview and offer of a place, completion and signing of an Enrolment Acceptance form accompanied by an Enrolment Fee of $850 for the first child and $250 for each subsequent child, will enable your child/ren to attend Mentone Grammar.
Entry to the Early Learning Centre (Kindergarten and Pre-prep) Kindergarten and Pre-prep are popular entry levels to Mentone Grammar. It is the School’s expectation that girls and boys enrolled to commence at these levels will, under normal circumstances, continue on at the School from Prep through to Year 12.
Accordingly, to confirm enrolment when a place is offered for Kindergarten or Pre-prep, families will be required to pay a Preparatory Year Grade Holding Fee of $500 per family in addition to the Enrolment Fee. This Prep Grade Holding Fee is deducted from the first Semester's fees when your child starts in Prep Grade. If a child does not continue into Prep, this payment is forfeited.
The Principal reserves the right to waive this fee in some circumstances where the withdrawal is beyond the control of the parent or guardian (eg. transfer interstate or overseas).
Orientation for New Students
An orientation session/day takes place during the latter part of the year prior to commencement for new students entering Kindergarten to Year 8. Students entering Years 10 to Year 12 are encouraged to attend 'Change Over' in the last two weeks of Term 4 when all senior students, both current and new, are oriented to the next year's academic calendar, teachers, timetables, subjects, activities and classmates.
