Curriculum
Mentone Grammar provides an innovative and comprehensive learning program to meet the educational needs of all students. Dedicated teams of teachers aim to develop resilient young people with the wide range of skills, interests and attributes necessary to take their places in a changing world, through a leading co-educational environment which challenges and motivates within a caring community.
Throughout their schooling Mentone Grammar students develop capabilities in their learning across the curriculum, in co-curricular programs and in their lives outside school. These capabilities encompass skills, behaviours and dispositions that students develop and apply to content knowledge and that support them in becoming successful learners, confident and creative individuals and active and informed citizens.
Students can reach their full educational potential only when they are happy, healthy and safe. Students participate in a wide range of House activities, co-curricular programs and sport which allows them to become active members within the school community.
At Mentone Grammar, our teaching aims to be learner-centred, flexible and relevant. We recognise that each learner comes to learning with their own understandings, assumptions and motivations. We provide supportive and engaging learning environments and value and recognise diversity to provide for dynamic engagement and deep learning.
Our teachers believe that all students can learn successfully and all students are expected to be successful in their learning. Our students are encouraged to play an active role in their own learning. They are challenged to communicate their ideas in a variety of ways, and use technology to enhance their learning. Learning programs are tailored to encourage all students to discover their gifts and aim to achieve their best.
